Sepsis Visions: Medical Trials & Calling A Taxi | By Matthew Laverty – Sepsis Survivor
Hi all, during my time with Sepsis when I was in ICU, I had many ‘experiences’ which I will try to explain – reality, memories, visions or dreams – you decide!
Dream or Vision
My first ‘vision’ or ‘dream’, would seem to be of my mother and step-father driving me to Antrim for a weekend – apparently I had agreed to get paid for participating in a medical trial. Then I remember them specifically taking me to the army camp at Mazarene.
I remember being wheeled down a long corridor to a ward and being in a bed, but all my clothes were lying on the floor. I was then moved to another ward and my parents were there with my finance, but I did not recognize her at that point.
I wanted to go home but they all wanted me to stay there another one night.
I became distressed and I then asked that they call me a taxi. I apparently gave them the telephone numbers of the taxi firms that I had used many years before when I was younger.
I would NOT and DID NOT remember these numbers when I was conscious, or before I was ill!
I kept getting distressed because I thought that I could hear the taxi drivers sounding their horn for me to come out.
But I was told afterwards that it was the alarms going off every time I made sudden movements.
